Updated Vision Board 2024

At the start of every year, I carve out time for one of my favorite personal traditions—creating a vision board. It’s a powerful tool that helps me visualize my goals, dreams, and intentions for the year ahead. If you haven’t made one before, or if you’re curious about the process, I’d love to share how this practice helps me stay inspired and focused throughout the year.

Why I Make a Vision Board

Life can get busy and unpredictable, so having a visual reminder of my goals keeps me grounded. My vision board serves as a daily source of motivation, reminding me of the things that matter most and the milestones I’m working toward. It’s not just about setting goals, but about creating a space where my dreams are tangible, and I can see them coming to life.

The Process

Every January, I gather a few simple supplies:

  • My vision board frame- I use the same one every year and move my old vision board to my scrapbook for the year it was for. I like having it framed so that I can hang it in my space without it feeling weird or obtrusive. Feel free to use whatever you have —a poster board or corkboard will work great too

  • Magazines, printed images, or personal photos- I collect magazines all year for this project!

  • Scissors, glue, and colorful markers or pens

  • Any meaningful quotes or affirmations I want to include

I start by reflecting on the areas of my life that I want to focus on—career, health, relationships, personal growth, and creativity. Then, I find or create images and words that represent each of these areas. Whether it’s pictures of places I want to travel, symbols of self-care, or affirmations for staying positive, everything I include has personal significance.

Setting Intentions

Once everything is laid out, I think about the deeper intentions behind each goal. What does success look like for me this year? How do I want to feel by the end of it? These reflections help me choose images and words that align with not only what I want to achieve but also how I want to experience the journey.

How My Vision Board Inspires Me Throughout the Year

I place my completed vision board somewhere I can see it every day. Having these images and words in sight keeps me focused, especially on challenging days. Sometimes, just glancing at my vision board reignites my excitement and reminds me why I set these goals in the first place. I keep mine hung on the wall by my bed so that it’s the last thing I see before I go to sleep and the first thing I see when I wake up.

It’s amazing to look back at the end of the year and see how many things from the board have come to fruition. Even if not every goal is fully achieved, the act of creating the board helps me clarify my priorities and set a positive tone for the year.

Ready to Make Your Own?

If you’re feeling inspired, I encourage you to try making a vision board for yourself! It’s a fun, creative way to start the year with intention. Whether your goals are big or small, having a visual reminder can keep you motivated and excited about the journey ahead.
